The Academy of Scientists from Romania is the successor and sole legatee of the Academy of Sciences from Romania (1935 – 1948) and the Association of Scientists from Romania established in 1956. In 1996 it changed its title to the Academy of Scientists from Romania and among the honorary members included important Nobel laureates. According to the Scimago/ELSEVIER institutional evaluation, based on the international scientific visibility of its members, AOSR ranks 22/Romania and 775/world in the ranking of research and higher education institutions.
